Drupal Print Module <span> Validation Issue

I Ran across a minor validation issue with the Printer, e-mail and PDF (version 6.x-1.10) Drupal Module. Is it a huge deal? No. Am I picky about my valid XHTMLz? When I can be.
The issue queue had this to say which has a nice patch.
wget http://drupal.org/files/issues/print.module_8.patchthe patch to the print module directory and
# patch < print.module_8.patchthe hell out of it.
